Females

Pacific Sun Alpaca’s Female Alpacas
Now is the time to purchase alpacas as prices have never been better.

All our alpacas are registered both ARI and CLAA.

At Pacific Sun we are breeding for fibre first …. If we are going to have a viable industry we must get serious about our females. At our farm not all females are breeding stock!

It has taken some time (since 1999) and research to figure out the direction of our breeding program. We understand the importance of the female lines as well as the male lines. We have learned about fiber and the various characteristics and are actively breeding to accentuate the positive traits which are expressed in our crias.

In our female lines we have brought in Lionel, Rockamundo, Ice Man, Ultima, Alpamayo, Accoyo Fredrico, Accoyo Sandman, El Moustachio (accoyo), Victor’s Vaccoyo, Felix and Accoyo Artic. If were are going to make the strides forward in our breeding program we understand the the male is only part of the equation. I sometimes wonder if the female gives more than 50% I believe her lines could have more of an influence than we think.

Ice Cap is a welcome addition to our foundation females and what an addition she is! She is light brown with a strong Vicuna influence as evident by her coloring.

Her fleece has outstanding character and good coverage. She is extremely dense with a very uniform fleece. She has strong bold crimp from the skin to the end of the staple, which can be found from her top knot to the back of her legs.

She is out of International’s best producing true black female, Carmanan and by High Country Llamas and Alpacas herd sire Bolivian Iceman.

Ice Cap’s daughters were shown at the Pacific Coast Alpaca Show and both girls did very well taking 1st. and 2nd.

Fancy is 1/2 accoyo through her sire Cperuvian Accoyo Arctic and is a carbon copy of her dam with her maternal grandsire being Bolivian Iceman.

Besides having great fleece and conformation this girl has a great personality and is a joy to have on the farm.Like her mother Ice Capp she is holding on to her low micron counts. This is a very hard thing to bred into your herd. Many alpacas show well as cria’s but will blow out as adults.

This lovely 1/2 peruvian girl is a solid true black with excellent fibre even for a white but being a shining blue black with soft handle is a real bonus.

2009 fibre stat _ 22.5/ 4.1/ 18.2 %>30u=4.9

Evita has excellent bloodlines and good fibre stats. Her grandsire Accoyo Artic has surely put his mark on many wonderfully fleeced alpacas in Canada and this girl is no exception. We thoght that Evita should have the ability to produce color and bred to Akon their off spring should be just wonderful, with royalty for bloodlines.

Evita has given us a lovely black female cria for 2010 the color did come through!
